NEW DELHI: Apple is undoubtedly the trendsetter. Recently, the Cupertino-based tech giant launched a self-repair program. The repair program enables users to repair their own devices using original Apple parts, tools, and manuals. Now another smartphone maker is ready to go down the same path.
Xiaomi is ready to replicate the Apple model and could be one soon Xiaomi care Repair program. The company recently visited Twitter to announce its upcoming service. The company will roll out this repair program in India first and further details of the service are not currently available.
Recently, Xiaomi reported a lower-than-expected increase in sales of 8.2% in the third quarter, hurt by intensification of competition from domestic competitors Oppo and Vivo. Profits slumped 84% to 788.6 million yuan, which Xiaomi attributed to changes in the valuation of companies in its investment portfolio.
Excluding one-time gains and losses, Xiaomi posted a profit of 5.18 billion yuan, largely in line with the average analyst forecast of 5.09 billion yuan. Xiaomi’s smartphone sales rose just 0.4% to 47.8 billion yuan.
