Wyze Video Doorbell owners should have been dancing in the door with the most recent firmware update. Along with the promised fixes and improvements, it enabled the much-anticipated support for both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Unfortunately, it looks like a very serious issue has been overshadowed for a video doorbell. Looks like the Live View feature is broken.
This is a story that seems to have been going on for several weeks now. The short version is that the owners were getting stuck on step 3/3 when connecting to live view from the doorbell. A new firmware update was released in late April that was supposed to fix this, alas, doesn’t seem to be the case. The company’s forums are still littered with complaints that Live View doesn’t work. There is at least one report that suggests that updating to the unfortunate .042 update may be more troublesome than previously thought.
,Well. Do not work on damaged. I have two doorbells, one was upgraded to 042. Then it had a problem of 3/3. Then upgraded to 060, it was better in the beginning. Now back to the same problem. The other doorbell was not upgraded to .042 firmware. But now it has been directly upgraded to .060. it works fine. There is no problem. So chances are the .042 update has messed something up with the device storage that the .060 didn’t clear up.,
Other areas of the Wyze Video Doorbell seem to be fine, including viewing video clips. But the lack of a live view on a product that has home security baked into its existence is disappointing at best. But what can you do? If your Wyze Video Doorbell is on an earlier firmware than the .042 update, it is prudent to avoid applying any updates if you can avoid it. Track the progress of the problem in the forum and if you are facing the problem yourself, there is a dedicated thread where users are being asked to report with relevant details and log number.
