Halide is a popular camera app for iPhones and iPads. It has been updated to version 2.5. This adds a new feature where all iPhone models now have a macro mode.
This mode, called Neural Macro, can be accessed in the app via the manual focus mode. Once activated, this app automatically selects the lens on the back of your iPhone with the shortest focusing distance.
GSMArena reported that Halides Neural Macro uses 2x digital zoom to get a better view of the subject without compromising image quality. This works in both 2x and 3x mode. The neural network improves the image, resulting in images that have a close-up and detail of a macro lens, but without any loss of image quality.
The 2x and 3x zoom with image enhancement is just like an edit applied to the image. If you want the original untrimmed and unedited, all you have to do is go to Edit and Recover.
Newly released iPhone 13 Pro
Halide can use the built-in macro mode function of the ultra-wide angle lens of the iPhone 13 Pro. It can also use the Neural Macro function to get even better macro pictures than your standard camera app.
This is where you get manual control of macro mode rather than standard editing which just enables and disables macro mode automatically. Halide 2.5 is a free update for all existing Halide II subscribers.
